Abstract Submission Guidelines
Guidelines for submission of posters are the same for all categories of participants - Faculty / PG / UG).
A Poster Session is a graphic presentation of an author's research. Authors illustrate their findings by displaying graphs, action photographs, diagrams and a small amount of text on the poster boards (sourced from APHA website). Poster should not look crowded with text. Use a combination of these suitably. e.g., a diagram would be more appropriate to describe the methodology / study design rather than using text.

Prepare your abstract based on the
following template:
TITLE OF THE PAPER
Include names of all authors (First Name,
followed by Initials); underline presenting author’s name
Department,
Name of the institution, City
E- Mail and Mobile Phone Number of the presenting author
Category of Presenting Author (UG student / PG student / Faculty)
Presentation mode (Oral / Poster)
ABSTRACT
Background
(should end with objectives of the study)
Methods
(should clearly state study design; tools used; sample size and
sampling procedure; study population (if applicable); ethical considerations and
statistical tests employed)
Results
Conclusion
Key words:
(include up to five)

INSTRUCTIONS
Prepare your abstracts adhering to
the following structure in not more than 300 words.
Prepare the abstract using
Microsoft Word.
Font type: Times New Roman
Font size: 12 pt. Do not prepare your abstract in
CAPITAL LETTERS.
Start each paragraph from the left
margin; do not indent or insert space before commencing a paragraph.
Abstracts not adhering to the
above structure will be returned for revision.
One registered participant
can send one abstract only (either poster or oral). The presenting
author MUST have registered for the conference.
ORAL PRESENTATION GUIDELINES
Time allotted for presentation is seven minutes and another three
minutes for discussion.
Prepare your presentation in PowerPoint
Number of slides should not exceed ten in all.
Use Arial font (minimum28 point). Title font size: minimum 36 point. Use
a mix of text, graphs and tables. Do not prepare crowded slides. Not more than
six bulleted points per slide. You can keep notes to refer to (take a printout
of the handout and write additional points on that for reference, if
necessary).
Prepare your slides with light background and dark fonts or vice-versa.
File name should be given like this: Write your first name followed by
a space and then your conference registration number.

POSTER STRUCTURE: Your poster should have the following essential sections:
1. Introduction and identification of need
2. Objective(s), Rationale, Research Question
3. Methodology & Data Analysis
4. Results / Discussion
5. Conclusion / Take home messages

PREPARING YOUR POSTER
1.
The poster should measure 3
feet (width) x 4 feet (height); i.e., it should be prepared in PORTRAIT orientation. Click here to view a sample template.
2.
The contents should be
self-explanatory. Do not leave the reader to guess.
3.
Each Table / Figure must be serially
numbered and a self-explanatory title be given.
4.
Whenever values are used, be
sure to include units (e.g., cm / g / ml / KCal, etc.)
5.
Brief footnotes (not exceeding
one line) may be given, if necessary.
6.
Additional information (such as
tool used for data collection) may be distributed as printed sheets.
7.
The presenter must be available
beside her / his poster throughout the time earmarked for poster presentation
for explaining her / his work to the visiting audience.
8.
Use Arial font of appropriate
size.
